The engine then goes into limp mode with the DSC and EML lights on, often with fault codes 2B15 (Throttle Valve Actuator Bank 1) and 2B16 (Throttle Valve Actuator Bank 2). Often the engine first runs normally for about 5 minutes before the symptoms appear.

The cause is a design flaw in the internal gears, which wear prematurely and overload the electronics. With these refurbished actuators, Evolve replaces all internal components with heavier-duty versions, so the problem does not return. You choose from two options: send in your old actuators in advance, or pay a deposit (core charge) that is refunded once your old actuators have been received.

Features

Uprated gears: made of superior material

New electronics: all MOSFETs replaced

Checked: transistors, capacitors, voltage regulators, microprocessor and EEPROM tested or replaced

Per pair: set of 2 actuators

Compatibility

BMW M5 E60 Sedan (S85)

BMW M5 E61 Touring (S85)

BMW M6 E63 Coupe (S85)

BMW M6 E64 Convertible (S85)

Specifications

Brand: Evolve

Manufacturer part number: EVO-S85-TA (Send In Advance), EVO-S85-TA/Core Charge (Core Charge)

Contents: 2 refurbished throttle actuators

Send In Advance variant: send in old actuators in advance

Core Charge variant: deposit, refunded once the old actuators have been received

Installation

The actuators replace the original units on the throttle bodies.
